I've been playing with paint and I made a shelf!
I borrowed the woodblocks from another fireplace,
so I'll have to make a new fire.....
but how do you do that.....
do you use branches fresh from the garden???
I'm always a little bit afraid there will be bugs in there that will eat my projects

Margriet to kill off the bugs simply place the logs in boiling water for a few moments, then dry them out in a microwave, nothing will live through that :) (its how my son sterilises the branches for his real snakes :o))
PS I am in love with your fireplace!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks Nicky!!! I will try that!
Very nice! That shelf is perfect!
Margriet, your fireplace looks so Perfect for your Tower! I am starting to design my Wizards Tower that will be at the Top of my Castle Tower..... and I am trying to decide on the location of the stairs and the fireplace... I like the way yours is in the corner under the stairs.... it looks so Cozy! You have made it look very inviting... I want to curl up by it with a book... :)
Looks so fantastic!!! That shelf is the cream on the fireplace-dessert... (LOL) - and stil so much space on it for lovely decorations. Is this really a mini version of the "Venus von Willendorf" I spotted there?
Have a great weekend!
Birgit
The shelf is great!

Daydreamer...good luck with you tower! I'm very curious how yours will look!!
Birgit..yes, it is a miniature Venus von Willendorf!!! I bought it some years ago when we were visiting a cave while being on holiday in Germany! I have a miniature Venus of Brassempouy too!

I used real branches and Nicky, thanks for the suggestion on how to debug the branches :). I will definitely try that. I used real materials a lot.
Margriet, your fireplace is looking hot! I love the fat lady sculpture on the shelf. I have a few life sized ones :).
