M-huis/M-house

In october 2010 my friend Marmod gave me her "Marmodhouse".
In november I had torn all the doors out and cut a hole in the roof.
And then it stopped...
I did other things that were much more fun to do
and the house stayed abandoned under the stairs.
Now and then I looked at it, but I had to widen all the door openings in the house
and I really didn't want to do that...so nothing happened!

Until a few weeks ago....suddenly I wanted to start again
and after 2 days all the door openings were cut wider,
so the working doors would fit!
And now the heavy work is done and I can start renovating the rooms!

The past 2½ years I frequently thought about the house,
so i do know what I want to do with it!
In it there will live an archaeologist who is interested in legends and myths,
ancient Greece and Egypt, and as a hobby enjoys painting, bookbinding, art-journaling
and mixed media and who enjoys reading!
Hmm,she reminds me a bit of myself ;-)

The first room I started with is the craftroom!

Zo zag de kamer er eerst uit....
This is how the room looked before...

En nu zo...
And after....

At first I wanted to make this room into the bedroom of Vincent van Gogh,
but that would limit me in what I could put in the room!

One of the other rooms of the house (that now is called M-house)
is the showroom of all the treasures found by the archaeologist!
this room doesn't need much renovating,
so I already put some furniture in!

And now I finally have a place to put my mummies!!!

Groetjes, Margriet

Geweldig Margriet! :-)

Oh what a Lovely house, Margriet! I Love the shape and arrangement of the rooms... where you can see into another room behind the first one! And your furnishings are beautiful! I am looking forward to seeing this project develop! The Mummies are Creepy!!! I hope the Mummy doesn't come with a curse....!
I can tell you have some great ideas for this house!

Betsy, that is just the reason why I love this house too!!! It's looks like a real house!

Hahaha, Marian!!!

Groetjes, Ilona

I agree with Birgit: the house is very beautiful! Sometimes you need that time and the idea will find you. So far, you've made a lot of changes and Mummy is fantastic!

Oh, the house is gorgeous and you´ve found a wonderful theme for it! I like the changes you made with the french doors! And wow, it is hard to find a perfect place for a miniature mummy, lol, but you succeeded!

Hoi Margriet,

Margriet, I am waiting for the "Suddenly" moment for 1 over year already! My Alison Jr house is still sitting on my table and like you with the M-house, it never left my thoughts for long.

I think my own M-house is the abandoned house more than the Alison Jr can ever be. :)

I see now where you wanted the Van Gogh room, and it felt like I was right with you in this journey as I read your post. Guess any room can use some Van Gogh sunflowers even though its not his room, right? Gawddd I am taking forever with the flowers. Sorry!

But your last picture made me laughed out loud ! I wonder what the M in M-house stands for now. Mummy?
